Budget-Friendly Boracay | How Much Does a Boracay Trip Cost?

When I was still studying, I have always thought that a Boracay trip is expensive... maybe because the ones I knew who go there are mostly the rich and well-off. But when I started reading blogs, I realized that it doesn't take a lot of money to go there, that a budget-friendly Boracay trip is actually possible.

It was my first time to go to Boracay last October 2011. I was with my high school friends. I also tagged along my sister. Since she's still studying and I'm already earning, technically, I will have to treat her. So I have to make sure our trip is cheap because I'll be shouldering my sister's expenses too, so that's times two!

For those who are planning to visit Boracay anytime soon, usually, the number one question is "How much does a Boracay trip cost?" I will try my best to provide the answer based on my recent Boracay trip last October.

We bought our airline tickets to Boracay months earlier through Cebu Pacific's Piso fare. We were only able to book one-way tickets because the return flight tickets were already sold out. Our one way ticket from Manila to Caticlan (Boracay) only costs P281 per person. We asked our friend who happens to work at Zest Air to inform us in case they will have an upcoming promo. During one of Zest Air's promo, we were able to book a return flight ticket from Kalibo to Manila for around P750 per person.

Below is a breakdown of our expenses in Boracay minus the airline tickets:

To start off, I'll present a table of Boracay Trip fixed expenses - these expenses do not vary but they are definitely subject to change in the future.

Food, accommodation and shopping can vary depending on your preferences. You can opt to stay in a guesthouse or a luxury hotel - it all depends on you. If you want to save a lot, stay in a guesthouse. Like us, we stayed in Casa Fiesta. You can read my Casa Fiesta review here. When it comes to food, I can say that eating in Boracay is a bit pricier than here in Manila. Our usual meal costs around 75-100 pesos per person. If you are planning to buy pasalubong, you may check out my post about pasalubong and souvenirs in Boracay.

  11. Vacation in Boracay is indeed cheap. Tip, cheap Boracay accommodations are usually located on station 3 while high class hotel and resorts are located on station 1. So if you really want a cheaper price than Php1500 per head, you can walk in along station 3 where you can get Php500 per head.
